This famous collection of Grimoires contains the Goetia. Any edition of this is good, but this is the most commonly available one, and it has prefaces and commentary by Crowley.

Magick Without Tears
I enjoyed this book because Crowley's voice in it is easily understandable. I love his tone in this collection of writings. "It is very good hearing that these letters do good, but rather sad to reflect that it is going to make you so unpopular. Your friends will notice at once that glib vacuities fail to impress, and hate you, and tell lies about you. It's worth it." Hey, you gotta love that. It makes it almost fun to BE unpopular because you don't buy the watered down pap dispensed in some of the neo-pop-pagan groups. He's right. It IS worth it. Because this writing took place in his later years, it pretty much blows the theory that he was a drug addled old coot.

A pretty extensive handbook on the Ceremonial Magick practices of the Golden Dawn. A bore to read and quite dry. But if you can stomach that...more power to ya.

Excellent book! My most reccomended book under Hittchhiker's Guide. It breaks down Magick to it's most simplist forms in my opinion. Great for the begginner and practical at all levels of expertise. More importantly..it's fun to read!
~ El Santo Diablo
Psybermagick : Advanced Ideas in Chaos... I just added this one to my own essentials because it is wicked funny and it nails maxims of magick while giving the finger to the idea that there are any maxims that matter. Unfortunately, unless you are really familiar with the first four books I've listed (and other magick works) this one won't make any sense to you.
